Greener Ways To Travel

When it comes to traveling and going on vacation, finding greener ways to get where you are going can not only save you money, but it can also help you feel better about what you are doing to save the environment. How you travel will depend a lot on where you are going.

If you need to travel some distance, like a few hundred miles, you’re not going to want to ride your bike. You also won’t want to ride your bike to the grocery store if you’re getting a whole week’s worth of groceries.

Start Walking More

One of the very best ways in which to help save the Earth and travel in a more green way is to walk places. Walking is not just good for the environment, but it is good for your health as well. Walking is a great way to get from one place to the next, and you can find some really great shoes for walking.

Make sure that you get shoes that are made for walking, so that you don’t get sore feet. There are shoes for walking, running, sports and more.

Invest In A Bicycle

If walking is not your cup of tea, try investing in a bicycle. It’s still a great workout, but can help you get from one point to the next a little quicker than walking. If you need to do some shopping with your bike, you can buy a basket to attach to it.

Bicycle are great for vacations as well. If you don’t own one, depending on your vacation destination, you may be able to rent one to get around with.

Look Into Green Cars

If you are one of those people that believe they need to have a vehicle, at any expense, at least look into buying an electric car, or a vehicle with flex fuel, when it’s time to get a new one. You may invest a little extra money into your new vehicle, but you will save on gas, and you’ll be living a more green life.

Take The Bus

Just because you chose not to have a car doesn’t mean you have to walk, or that you need to invest in a bike. There are other ways to travel that will also help with the environment, at least by keeping one less vehicle off the road (the one you would have owned).

You can take a cab, call uber, or take the bus. These are all great options for traveling locally. If you need to go a distance, you have options like flying, taking the train, or you could even rent a car. Rentals sometimes offer flex fuel vehicles as well, so you can still do something good for the environment.
